Temperance upright
Two things that do not work separately begin to work together here, as long as someone watches the proportions and does not speed up. The card describes mixing: doses of work and rest, two styles, two positions in a dispute, the old and the new way of doing something. The effect is slow and unspectacular, but it lasts. Plain regularity is valued here. What you do a little of every day changes far more over time than a single, well-remembered burst of effort.
Temperance reversed
Reversed, Temperance shows a lost rhythm: work eats into rest, spending comes in spikes, a conversation jumps from silence straight to an outburst. It can also be an attempt to combine things that need to be kept apart: two roles, two promises, two people with conflicting expectations. Excess presented as commitment is common here: more hours, more declarations, more of everything instead of the right proportion.
Symbolism
An angel stands with one foot on land and the other in the water, pouring liquid between two cups. The stream runs at an angle, so the blending takes attention, not just a tilt of the vessel. On the robe is a triangle inside a square: what is volatile, held in a form. In the background a path leads toward the mountains and a crown of light. After the cut that Death brings, this is the card of slowly assembling a new state from what remains.
How to read this card in a spread
In the "situation" position it describes a matter in progress that needs time, not another decision. In the "action" position it recommends adjusting the dose: less at once, more often, no extreme move. As the "outcome" it points to a state worked out gradually, usually a compromise both sides can call bearable. Next to the Knight of Swords it cools the rush and pushes the date back; next to the Two of Cups it shows a relationship adjusting in practice, not in declarations.
Love and relationships
The relationship settles through small corrections: who says how much, how much time you share, how quickly the conversation resumes after an argument. The card favors couples who differ in temperament or in pace of life. If you are single, it advises against extremes: neither forcing a connection nor withdrawing completely.
Work and money
It favors projects run at an even pace, juggling two responsibilities, and negotiations in which both sides give ground a piece at a time. With money it points to a budget spread across months: regular repayments, a fixed amount set aside, spending evened out instead of swinging between tightening the belt and catching up.
