Reversed, The Star describes discouragement: the goal still exists, it has just stopped pulling, and the effort seems to have no one to receive it. Less often it points to hope kept alive purely by wishing, without a single step taken in the real world and checked against the facts.

A naked woman kneels by the water, one foot resting on the land, the other on the surface. From two jugs she pours water: some returns to the pool, some spreads across the ground in five streams. Above her shine one large star and seven smaller ones, and a bird sits in the tree behind. The nakedness here means being unguarded, not seduction.
