The Moon upright
You are moving in a light that changes shapes: some facts are hidden, some are filled in by imagination, and telling one from the other is the real task here. The card describes unease with no clear cause, dreams that keep returning, and hunches you cannot yet justify. It can be a sign that someone is not telling you everything, but just as often it means only that you are filling the gaps with the worst possible version. Decisions made now usually look different a month later.
The Moon reversed
Reversed, it usually leads out of the fog: the fear turns out to be out of proportion, and a mistake or something left unsaid finally comes to light and brings relief. But it can go the other way. The confusion grows until you can no longer tell a hunch from a worry, and you act on the orders of the second. Which version applies usually comes down to one thing: whether the facts can still be checked at the source.
Symbolism
Above the path hangs a moon with a human face, shedding drops of light. On either side a dog and a wolf howl: the tame and the wild react in exactly the same way. A crayfish crawls out of the water, the content just now surfacing. The road winds between two towers and disappears into the hills. You can see the direction, not the end. The card comes before The Sun, so clarity arrives once this stretch has been walked.
How to read this card in a spread
In the "situation" position it speaks of a matter based on incomplete data, a rumor or a guess. As the "action" it advises not to decide but to check: ask directly, request it in writing, wait until morning. In the "outcome" position it points to a development whose shape has not yet settled. Next to The High Priestess the lack of clarity turns out to be a natural phase of the matter maturing, and passes on its own; next to the Seven of Swords it tips toward something genuinely being hidden from you.
Love and relationships
Jealousy, guesswork, and conversations held in your head instead of with the other person belong to this card. Signals can be mixed, and silence gets read in the worst possible way. If you are single, it describes a connection where you do not know where you stand, and a question worth asking outright.
Work and money
An unclear scope of duties, informal promises, a project with vaguely defined terms. The card advises against signing or deciding based on what "was said". With money it points to costs invisible in the contract and to estimates made optimistically, by eye, without checking the numbers with anyone.
