The World: tarot card meaning
The World ends the road of the Major Arcana and describes a chapter brought to a close in full, not halfway. Much depends on whether you can acknowledge the achievement before starting the next one.

The World upright
The cycle truly closes here: the goal reached, the obligation fulfilled, the experience arranged into something you can use further on. Fulfillment has a concrete form: a defended thesis, a loan paid off, a move, a relationship brought to a stable shape. The card also speaks of integration: things that once pulled in different directions finally begin to work together. The next stage is already visible on the horizon, but it really begins only after a conscious and clear closing of the current one.
The World reversed
Reversed, The World describes a finale without the final clasp: one last formality remains, one conversation, one signature, and the matter drags on for months. It can also be a difficulty in acknowledging your own achievement, which sends you straight into the next project. Sometimes it simply points to a missing piece without which the whole does not work, even though every other part is ready.
Symbolism
Inside a wreath of leaves a figure dances with a wand in each hand; the wreath is bound with red ribbons shaped like figure eights. In the four corners of the card are an angel, an eagle, a lion and a bull, the same figures as on Wheel of Fortune, only here they look on calmly. The wreath is closed, but it has the shape of an oval you pass through. The last number in the deck completes the road begun by The Fool.
How to read this card in a spread
As a description of the "situation" it confirms the chapter has come to an end and you can say so plainly. In the "action" position it recommends finishing the last piece instead of starting anything new. As the "outcome" it means complete success, though usually less spectacular than imagined at the start. Next to The Fool it announces a new cycle opening right after the old one closes; next to the Ten of Pentacles it points to a permanence that carries into the years ahead.
Love and relationships
A relationship reaching a mature shape: living together, a wedding, a decision made and kept. It can also be the full closing of a relationship, with nothing left unsaid, after which you can move on. If you are single, it means a stage at which your own life is complete even without another person.
Work and money
A finished project, a defended degree, a closed financial year, a company sold. The card favors summaries and sending the final invoice. With money it means a paid-off obligation or a savings goal reached, and the question of what to do with funds that are no longer committed.
Advice
Finish the last piece and close the chapter clearly: a summary, a settlement, a celebration. Only then open the next matter, so you do not drag the old one along in a new form.
