Judgement describes a moment of reckoning with the past and a call that has to be answered. The reading depends on whether it is about someone else's assessment or about a decision you have long been putting off.

Judgement upright
The past gets summed up honestly here: no rounding in your own favor and no making yourself guilty of everything. The card describes a call heard clearly: a return to an abandoned intention, a decision put off for years, a matter life keeps bringing back around. You already have enough experience to choose in line with who you are today, not who you were when you started. And the answer has to be given openly, not just in your head.
Judgement reversed
Reversed, the call is heard and consistently drowned out by work, by deadlines, by one more "not yet". It can also be the opposite problem: the reckoning turns into a list of charges against yourself, followed by no decision at all. Sometimes there is a fear of other people's judgment big enough to block a move that was thought through long ago and is ready in every other respect.
Symbolism
An angel blows a trumpet with a banner bearing a cross hanging from it; below, naked people rise from open coffins floating on the water, arms raised. No one hides and no one stands alone, because the call is for whole families. Mountains are visible in the background, the same boundary as on the Death card. Number twenty falls right before The World, so the reckoning is the condition for closing the road.
How to read this card in a spread
In the "situation" position it names a matter returning after years: a contact, a subject, a choice that has stood before you once already. In the "action" position it tells you to make the decision openly and accept its consequences. As the "outcome" it means a clearing resolution, even when it costs. Next to Death it confirms the old chapter is not coming back in any form; next to the Eight of Cups it describes a departure made at peace with yourself, not in anger.
Love and relationships
A conversation in which both of you say plainly what happened and what you want next. It can be the return of someone from the past, with the question of whether you are returning to the relationship or to your idea of it. If you are single, it describes conclusions drawn from the whole history, not from the latest disappointment.
Work and money
A summary of a period, a performance review, a decision to change careers, or a return to an abandoned path after years. The card favors admitting a mistake and fixing it directly. With money it means clearing up arrears: a settlement, an agreement, closing a matter that has dragged on from an earlier chapter.
Advice
Answer the call that keeps coming back: set a date and tell the decision to someone who will remember it. Settle the past once, instead of returning to it every month.
