The Six of Pentacles describes a flow of money or support between two sides of clearly different strength. One question changes the most here: which side of the arrangement you happen to be standing on.

Six of Pentacles upright
Help is given and it actually helps: a loan, a raise, a job from someone who has more. The card praises generosity, but it does not hide the asymmetry: the giver keeps the scales and decides the measure alone. If you are asking as the one receiving, it is worth knowing what is expected of you in return, because a condition usually exists and is rarely spoken.
Six of Pentacles reversed
Reversed, the giving starts serving the giver: help with control attached, a gift brought up later in an argument, support paid out precisely so the other side never gets back on its feet. It can also be a debt that never returns, and generosity extended at the expense of your own bills until the roles flip.
Symbolism
A merchant in rich robes stands between two kneeling beggars: with his right hand he drops coins to one, in his left he holds a balanced scale. He is the one who sets how much and to whom. The measure does not belong to those receiving. Six pentagrams fill the background. He stands upright, they kneel; the image speaks of help and of a difference in standing at the same time.
How to read this card in a spread
In the "situation" position it shows a relationship of financial dependence, including within a family. In the "action" position it advises giving or asking, but with the condition and the deadline stated out loud. In the "outcome" position it means support received, not independence. Beside the Five of Pentacles it closes a hard period and brings relief; beside the King of Pentacles it points to a specific, solvent patron rather than general goodwill from those around you.
Love and relationships
A relationship in which one person brings in more money, the home or the upkeep, and that starts to weigh on the conversations. It can also be caring for someone in crisis. It is worth checking whether the other person gives back in a different currency, such as time, presence and work around the house, or does not give back at all.
Work and money
A bonus, a raise granted from above, funding from an investor, a payment forgiven. The card favors asking for support from someone who can actually provide it. With loans inside the family it insists on writing down the amount and the date, because an unspoken favor comes back later as a grievance.

Say the terms of this help out loud: how much, by when, and what you expect in return. An unspoken debt grows faster than a written one.
