Four of Pentacles: tarot card meaning
The Four of Pentacles shows someone who already has enough to feel safe and still does not loosen their grip. The reading changes depending on whether your question is about saving or about control over people.

Four of Pentacles upright
Stability here is a fact, not a promise: money set aside, a job kept, an established order. The price can be high, though, because a clenched hand takes in nothing new. The card describes the line between sensible caution and fear of loss. Past that line, a person starts defending what they have against their own opportunities and against the people close to them. Nothing is lost here, but nothing arrives either.
Four of Pentacles reversed
Reversed runs in two directions. More often it is a loosening of the grip: a long-postponed purchase, a loan granted, control handed to someone else. Less often it means losing what was held most tightly, or a stinginess that no longer protects anything and has started costing relationships and chances passed up on principle.
Symbolism
A crowned figure sits on a stone bench in front of a city skyline, clutching one coin to their chest. A second rests on the crown, two more are pinned under their feet. Quite literally, they are standing on their own money. The arms are closed, the back rigid. The city is behind them, not around them: the wealth has been walled off from the people who produced it.
How to read this card in a spread
In the "situation" position it describes someone who would rather lose less than gain more. In the "action" position it can be sound advice: hold off on the purchase, do not change jobs right now. In the "outcome" position it foretells security without growth. Beside the Ace of Pentacles it means an opportunity filed away in a drawer; beside The Tower it warns that what is gripped so tightly will be torn from your hands anyway.
Love and relationships
Closeness dispensed carefully: separate homes after years together, separate accounts kept out of distrust rather than convenience. It can also be jealousy over a partner's time and friends. If you are single, it is a peace guarded so effectively that no one has a way in.
Work and money
Saving every dollar, freezing the team's budget, staying in a position despite the ceiling. The card favors paying down debt and finishing an emergency fund, but not investing or changing jobs. In negotiations it describes the side that will not budge on price even at the cost of walking away.
Advice
Name one thing you are holding out of fear rather than arithmetic, and release exactly that one this week. Leave the rest of your reserve untouched.
