King of Wands upright
Someone here sets the direction and can pull others along, not through control but through clarity about where they are going. The King of Wands decides quickly, because he would rather correct course along the way than wait for complete information. His strength is the ability to rest a matter on people: he hands out tasks and does not get into every detail.
King of Wands reversed
The reversed King can be a despot on a small scale: decisions without consultation, impatience with slower people, promises made beyond what the team can deliver. The second variant is leadership with nothing behind it: plenty of vision, no execution. Sometimes it describes someone who has lost authority and is trying to win it back by raising his voice.
Symbolism
He sits on a throne with lions and salamanders, dressed in a flame-colored cloak, his wand resting on the ground like a staff, not a scepter. His body is turned to the side, as if he were about to stand up. This is a ruler in motion, not on display. By the foot of the throne lies a small living salamander with its tail closed in a loop: a transformation carried through to the end.
How to read this card in a spread
