Ten of Wands upright
The success of the earlier cards has turned into obligations. The card describes a person who took on everything, their own tasks and other people's, and then carries it alone, because doing it is faster than explaining it. The goal is in sight, the house stands a few hundred yards away, so the final stretch can be walked. The question is how much of this needed carrying at all.
Ten of Wands reversed
Reversed, the load starts to slip: either you set part of the tasks down and hand them to someone, or everything comes down at once because the piling on went on too long. It can be a sign that you are hauling someone else's responsibility and nobody asked you to. Sometimes it means giving up just short of the finish.
Symbolism
A figure carries an armful of ten wands hugged in both arms, held so high in front of the face that they cannot see the road or anything to the sides. The staves are splayed carelessly. This is not a packed load, just everything at once. In the background stand buildings: the goal is close and reachable, only the way of carrying makes the last stretch the hardest.
How to read this card in a spread
In the "situation" position the Ten describes an overload in which there is no time to judge whether each task makes sense. In the "action" position it says plainly: put some down, hand some over, finish the rest. In the "outcome" position it means the goal reached at the cost of your strength and of any view of what is beside you. Next to the Eight of Wands things speed up at the worst possible moment; next to the Three of Pentacles a real chance to split the work appears.
Love and relationships
A relationship in which one person handles all the logistics: the home, the schedule, contact with family, everyone's mood. Closeness gets lost under obligations, not under a lack of feeling. For singles it often means a calendar so full that not a single free evening is left for meeting anyone.
Work and money
Overtime, other people's tasks taken on "just for now", a one-person business where you also do the bookkeeping and the marketing. The Ten says the problem is not the amount of work but the failure to pass any of it on. With money there are several installments and obligations at once, so it is worth listing them in one place and checking which can be closed out.
Advice
List everything you are carrying and cross out one thing that is not yours. Hand it over today, even if someone does it worse than you would.
